Holistic and individual guidance through Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Ayurveda and Astrology in Wanaka

Activities with like-minded people help us to continuously evolve on the path of Yoga and Wellbeing, whilst strengthening the connection to the Sangha (group). Our events are held for regular or one-off Yoga classes, exploration, discussion and sharing; honoring the ancient traditions of Yoga, Ayurveda and Astrology. Our retreats provide a sanctuary of time that is dedicated to your inner wellness, rejuvenation and nurturing.

Classes – Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

We offer a total of four Ashtanga Vinyasa classes per week: Two on Mondays and two on Wednesdays (start date for Wednesday classes TBA)

Ashtanga is one of the most vigorous physical yoga practices. It is ideal for active people to balance all other physical activities, to harness the mind and to control the breath. This style of yoga has been very popular ever since its introduction to the Western Yoga world – and there are many reasons for it. It is one of the original and purest forms of Yoga. Its flowing movement synchronized with breath makes it a moving meditation. It energizes and purifies the body and it stills the mind.

In early 2021 we moved to Wanaka after having run a yoga studio (breathe yoga) in Havelock North for ten years. Doris has been trained by the legendary John Scott. Urs was lucky enough to learn under the guidance of the well-known Yoga Therapy teacher, Ganesh Mohan.

We live in a time where the busyness of the mind negatively affects our physical and mental well-being. Hence the stilling of the mind is paramount for good health. This practice makes your body strong and subtle and your mind becomes clearer and calmer. It is one of the most amazing Yoga methods to stay fit, healthy and to be mindful.

Mondays, 4.30-5.45pm: Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for Beginners
Dome, Hawea Flat

This class is for Beginners that have already attended the 4 week intro course and are keen to move into self practice.

Investment: $20 per class or 10 class concession card $180. Ideally you bring your own mat, blanket and any prop you require. Private tuitions (at other times, $75 for 60 minutes or 3 sessions for $180) are also available.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Intro Course
Limited to four students
Dome, Hawea Flat

Urs will introduce you to the basics of the Primary Series. A four week block ($72) is an ideal way of easing you into the Ashtanga practice. If you like, you can start your journey with us with a 1:1 session (45 minutes, $30). This enables us to get to know you a bit better and allows time for a proper introduction.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga – Mysore (self practice)
Dome, Hawea Flat

The Mysore (self practice) class is suitable for anybody who has practised Ashtanga for a while and knows the sequence. The sequence attracts people who enjoy flowing movement synchronized with breath. It is a deeply cleansing practice for anybody (runner, biker, golfer, etc.) who benefits from stretching, strength and suppleness in body and calmness of mind.  It is indeed a fantastic preparation for the skiing season and works well as a preventive practice against injuries.

The practice is easily tailored to anybody and any level. This class is guided by Doris & Urs, two passionate teachers, who have shared a love for this practice for 20 years and practise it on a regular basis. Together they are offering an in-depth knowledge into this amazing style of Yoga in a safe, welcoming and warm environment.
